There have been numerous reports in recent weeks about a supposedly imminent agreement between Israel and Turkey to build a pipeline in the East Mediterranean to supply gas from Israel’s giant Leviathan field to the Turkish market.
The proposal has been on the table for some years as a means to monetise East Mediterranean gas, and it came to light again following the recent Atlantic Council meeting in Istanbul where energy officials from both countries discussed the progress of negotiations to this end.
