South Korea’s new President Moon Jae-In has ordered a temporary shut down of 3.3 GW of coal-fired capacity in a bid to tackle air pollution, raising questions over potential impact on LNG demand.
The ten coal stations, which account for around 11% of South Korea’s total coal-fired power, will be shut down for one month in June 2017 and again during the low demand season March to June 2018.
