The energy sector may be facing a great deal of uncertainty due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but for Finland-based global marine and energy solutions provider Wartsila, the future is something to look forward to. Having evolved from supplying gas engines into the full value chain of gas technologies, much of Wartsila’s focus now centres on small-scale LNG and developing alternative fuel solutions such as bio-LNG, hydrogen and ammonia. According to Kaj Portin, general manager, fuel and operational flexibility, at Wartsila Marine, and Kjell Ove Ulstein, director sales and marketing at Wartsila Gas Solutions, both are dynamic segments and, against the backdrop of decarbonisation and LNG oversupply, are bound to remain so for year to come.
