Construction of the first gas-fired power plant in the southwest Indian state of Karnataka has begun, EPC contractor Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) said this week.
A ceremony was held on Tuesday to mark the start of construction on the 370 MW plant, which is part of a drive to add 9 GW of generation capacity to the state over the next five years, according to local reports.
