Countries around the world continue to lag up to 20 years behind Norway in terms of LNG and fuel technology in the shipping industry, speakers said at the Informa LNG Shipping event in London on Wednesday.
Norway first coined the idea of LNG bunkering in the mid-1990s and has now begun powering ships using hybrid gas engines, electric batteries and hydrogen fuel cells, according to David Bull of Ocean Shipping Consultants.
