Canadian oil and gas transporter Enbridge plans to increase its North American presence by buying US gas pipeline operator Spectra Energy for USD 127 billion and creating a new company called Enbridge Incorporated.
Enbridge operates roughly 33,000 miles of oil and gas pipelines and 79 liquids terminals in Canada and the US and primarily moves fuel to supply heavy industry. Spectra has 88,000 miles of gas pipeline and 300 Bcf of storage capacity and mainly carries gas to US utilities.
