The UK government has established regulator the Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) as an independent company with greater powers, the OGA said in a statement on Monday.
The authority currently regulates exploration and development of the UK’s oil and gas resources, as well as carbon and gas storage and offloading activities. Its new powers, transferred from the secretary of state, include dispute resolution, meetings access and sanctions as well as decommissioning.
