Stronger gas-fired power generation in the US and China has helped keep global carbon emissions flat for a third year, the Global Carbon Project (GCP) said on Monday in its latest annual report.
Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from burning fossil fuels and making cement were unchanged in 2015 at a combined 36.4 gigatonnes (Gt), equal to roughly 36.4 million tonnes. The figure is projected to increase by 0.2% this year, the GCP said.
