Gazprom subsidiary South Stream Transport has contracted Swiss firm Allseas to build the offshore section of the first 17.5 Bcm string of the Turk Stream pipeline from Russia to Turkey, along with an option to build a second string in the future.
Under the contract, Allseas will start building the 900 km section across the Black Sea in the second half of 2017 using the world’s largest construction vessel, the Pioneering Spirit. The first string of Turk Stream is expected to be completed in 2019, three years after the original deadline.
