The Scottish government has signalled a subtle change in attitude towards unconventional oil and gas extraction that reopens the public debate on fracking and could bring an end to a two-year moratorium on drilling.
Holyrood highlighted a possible GBP 1.2 billion (USD 1.49 billion) boost for Scotland’s economy and the creation of 1,400 jobs in a consultation document that explores the benefits and disadvantages of hydraulic fracturing.
