US President Donald Trump is facing a reality check in his efforts to expand offshore drilling and scrap the Clean Power Plan (CPP), the Obama-era regulation that would limit CO2 emissions from the electricity sector nationwide.
In late April, Trump signed an executive order on “implementing an America-first offshore energy strategy” commanding the Department of the Interior (DoI) to review leasing practices affecting offshore Arctic areas and the Outer Continental Shelf, which encompasses much of the US’ maritime territory.
