Companies with interests in the Russian energy sector are clinging to dwindling hopes that sanctions passed through the US House of Representatives might be softened before the legislation wins Presidential approval, to lessen implications for ongoing and future investments.
The bill in its current form raises questions over several Russian gas and energy projects, not least Nord Stream 2, as well as the Baltic LNG plant and Blue Stream pipeline into Turkey – prompting the European Commission to mobilise its full diplomatic arsenal.
