South Korea’s LNG imports surged by nearly 40% year-on-year in June and marked a seasonal record for the month at 3.4 mtpa, according to customs data, well in excess of some analyst expectations.
Imports for the first half of 2017 jumped 18% compared with the same period in 2016 and are on track to match levels from 2014, when they hit 37 mtpa for the whole year.
