From an LNG perspective, India’s draft new National Energy Strategy, published earlier this summer, talks a good talk and comes as the country’s imports and regas capacity are growing faster than previously anticipated. LNG last year accounted for almost half of the gas consumed in India, while the list of proposed import terminals is growing longer by the month. But in a country where energy reforms have so often faltered and buyers are notoriously price-sensitive, will the three-year-old government of prime minister Narendra Modi be able to walk the energy walk?
