As Algeria’s economic concerns intensified in early June, on the back of falling oil and gas revenues and the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, President Abdelmajid Tebboune reshuffled his cabinet.
Among the most significant was Abdelmajid Attar, a former CEO of national oil company Sonatrach, who was appointed as energy minister, while Aymene Benaberahmane, the head of Algeria's central bank, took over as finance minister.
