For energy projects developer, owner and operator Invenergy, providing a solution that makes “the most sense” for a project’s location and access to resources in vital. In El Salvador’s case, where the company is constructing the 378 MW Energia del Pacifico (EDP) LNG-to-power project, the start of LNG imports will help the country finally switch from oil to gas in power generation and further enable its already well-advanced renewables segment, says Bryan Schueler, executive vice president and chief development officer at Invenergy.

As in El Salvador, LNG will be the first step in many countries’ path to decarbonisation as they move away from coal and oil – but the pace to net-zero will be different for each of them.
