Japan’s ministry of economy, trade and industry (METI) believes that LNG imports will fall by over 30% by 2030, as the country pares back gas-fired power in favour of nuclear and renewables. Indeed, Japan’s nuclear programme could be the key determinant of its future LNG demand and global LNG flows in the wider region.
