E.ON subsidiary Uniper posted a net loss of EUR 3.9 billion (USD 4.4 billion) for the first half of 2016, on the back of a re-evaluation of its thermal generation and gas storage assets in the context of uncertain European gas and power markets, the company said on Monday.
Around 97.5% off the first half losses were attributable to “one-off” impairment charges on its gas storage and thermal generation assets. Last year, E.ON’s thermal generation unit posted a net profit of EUR 0.1 billion (USD 0.1 billion).
