Ruling leaders of the Islamic Republic of Iran have hailed the inauguration of latest phases of the supergiant South Pars gas field in the Persian Gulf as a major industrial breakthrough achieved despite international sanctions.
Petroleum minister Bijan Zangeneh said over the weekend that the start of operations at South Pars (SP) phases 17 to 21 – using mostly Iranian capital, technology and human resources – is a “national honour” for the country.
