The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) – Australia’s competition watchdog – has been directed to monitor and bring transparency to the country’s gas industry in an effort to address price and supply concerns.
The move follows a meeting between the country’s prime minister and gas chiefs on Wednesday amid warnings by Australia’s energy market operator that the east coast could face supply issues before the end of the decade.
