Engie has all but given up on carbon capture and storage (CCS) and has instead turned its sights on developing biogas to fuel redundant gas power stations in a renewables-heavy power mix of the future.
The French energy company believes it would be economically feasible to deliver 11,000 TWh of biogas globally by 2050, sourced principally from biomass methanation and anaerobic digestion.
