The UK government's announcement that gas-fired heating systems will be banned from newbuild homes from 2025 should serve as confirmation, if one were needed, of the scale of momentum building behind the broad decarbonisation agenda in European capitals and specifically on the accelerating urgency among policymakers to curb natural gas consumption.
