‘Qatar will not be hampered’: LNG giant presses on with ambitious expansion plan

Qatar transformed the LNG business with intrepid technological leaps during the 2000s. Today, it is transforming the business by re-writing the commercial rulebook.

At the LNG producer-consumer conference organised last month by the Japanese government, Qatar’s LNG supremo Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi reiterated that construction contracts for a huge expansion of export capacity would be awarded before year-end – despite no long-term sales having been agreed.
