With just over three weeks until the EU parliament elections, which will take place between 6-9 June, Europe’s leadership and progress on the path to net zero is becoming a matter of growing political division among member states, as the pace, effectiveness and economic impact of the energy transition comes into question. In particular, Europe’s industrial sector is grappling with a decline in competitiveness against the US and China, fuelling the increasingly radical stance of right wing parties against the goals of the EU’s Green Deal.
