Water Gauge

Water Gauge

A measure often used to express the pressure of gas in distribution systems, using water instead of mercury. The gauge records how far up a gradated tube gas will lift a column of water. Distribution systems normally operate at about 300mm (12 inches) water gauge (i.e. 300mm above atmospheric pressure). For comparison, atmospheric pressure is a little above 10 metres of water.
