Butane
A member of the alkane group of Hydrocarbons with four carbon atoms in its molecule (C4H10, often abbreviated to C4 in non technical usage). Butane is a colourless, flammable gas at normal temperature and pressure but is easily liquefied by pressure for storage and transportation. There are two isomeric forms, normal and iso-butane. At atmospheric pressure iso-butane liquefies at –1200C and normal butane at -100C.
