The European Commission (EC) has released half of the capacity of the 36 Bcm/year Opal pipeline between eastern Germany and the Czech Republic to the open market until 2033, according to a release published late on Friday.
Since 2011, the Opal pipeline has been exempt from the EU third energy package, which aims to break up monopolies and create wider access to gas and power infrastructure.
